FCANZ is now calling for nominations for the 2026–2027 Board.
The Board is responsible for the governance of the Association and plays an essential role in setting its strategic direction and supporting its long-term purpose. Serving on the Board is an opportunity to contribute to the future of the industry while also developing your own capability. You’ll gain practical governance experience, broaden your perspective, and play a part in shaping the direction of FCANZ and the wider fencing industry.
We’re looking for members who are committed to lifting standards across the industry, understand how the sector operates, and are motivated to support professional fencing contractors. A willingness to engage, contribute, and work as part of a team is essential. Much of the Board’s work is done online, so being reasonably comfortable with technology is helpful — but support will be provided where needed.
Four of the current eight Board members reach the end of their two-year term at the AGM in August and may choose to stand again. Following a Constitutional change approved by members at last year’s AGM, the Board can now have up to nine members, and we are therefore seeking nominations to fill up to five positions.
Your commitment
Board members are expected to actively contribute to the work of the Association and uphold the standards expected of FCANZ members. This includes:
- Attending regular Board meetings
- Engaging in a timely manner between meetings
- Representing FCANZ at events where appropriate
- Contributing to discussions and decision-making in a professional and constructive way
Meetings are typically held monthly from February through to November. This includes one in-person, full-day meeting in Auckland each quarter, with online half-day meetings held in between.
The nomination process
Nominations must be completed online by 5pm, Monday 30 June 2026:
www.fcanz.org.nz/board-nomination
Once nominated, candidates will receive further information about the role and be asked to complete a short form outlining their background and experience.
Both the nominee and the nominator must be current, paid-up members.
The election process
The Board can have up to nine elected members. If the number of nominations exceeds the available positions, an election will be held at the AGM on Thursday 6 August 2026, where members in attendance will vote for their preferred candidates.
Following the AGM, the newly elected Board will meet to appoint the President, Vice-President, and Treasurer, ensuring continuity and a balanced mix of skills and experience.
