2.1 Personal information is any information which can or may be used to identify you and includes your contact details such as your name, email address, telephone number, payment information and other information that you submit to us.

Who do we collect your personal information from?
4.1 We collect personal information about you from:
4.1.1 You, when you provide that personal information to us, including via the website and any related service, through any registration process OR through any contact with us (eg telephone call or email).
4.1.2 Third parties where you have authorised this (eg survey platforms) or the information is publicly available. If possible, we will collect personal information from you directly.
How we use your personal information
5.1 We will use your personal information:
5.1.1 to verify your identity
5.1.2 to provide services and products to you
5.1.3 to market our services and products to you, including contacting you electronically
5.1.4 to improve the services that we provide to you
5.1.5 to bill you and to collect money that you owe us, including authorising and processing credit card transactions

Disclosing your personal information

6.1.2 any business that supports our services and products, including any person that hosts or maintains any underlying IT system or data centre that we use to provide the website or other services and products

6.1.6 any other person authorised by the Act or another law (e.g. a law enforcement agency)

6.2 A business that supports our services and products may be located outside New Zealand. This may mean your personal information is held and processed outside New Zealand, for example, cloud storage.
6.3 We will only disclose personal information outside New Zealand if we believe that it will be sufficiently protected in accordance with the Act.
Protecting your personal information
7.1 We will take reasonable steps to keep your personal information safe from loss, unauthorised activity, or other misuse.
7.2 While we take reasonable steps to maintain secure internet connections, if you provide us with personal information over the internet, the provision of that information is at your own risk.
7.3 If you post your personal information on any part of the website you acknowledge and agree that the information you post is publicly available.
How long we retain your data
8.1 We will hold your personal information for as long as is reasonably necessary, having regard to the purpose of collection.
8.2 If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
8.3 For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Rights of access and correction of personal information
9.1 Subject to certain grounds for refusal set out in the Act, you have the right to:
9.1.1 Receive confirmation of whether we hold any personal information and access to that personal information;
9.1.2 Request a correction to your personal information.
9.2 You may be able to make certain corrections to your personal information via the website.
9.3 If you want to exercise either of the above rights, please contact us using the details set out below (“Contact Us”). When contacting us you should provide evidence of who you are and set out the details of your request.
9.4 Subject to the provisions of the Act we may charge you our reasonable costs of providing to you copies of your personal information or correcting that information.
10.1 When you leave comments on the website we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
11.1 If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
12.2 If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
12.3 If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
12.4 When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
12.5 If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
13.1 Articles on our website may include embedded content (eg videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
